Born in August 1957 Christian Dierig is the sixth generation of spinners and weavers in a textile family. After school and compulsory military service he started an apprenticeship with the Deutsche Bank in Munich and finished as “Bankkaufmann” in 1979. Studies were absolved in the European Business School in London, Paris and Wiesbaden and finished in 1984. Two years in America and a year in China, all in the textile industry were absolved before Christian Dierig entered in the Dierig AG in Augsburg in 1986 as a sales manager for Finland, Denmark, America and Canada.
In 1991 Christian Dierig became the general manager of the Dierig GmbH taking care of all the fashion fabrics in the group. He was promoted to be vice president of the Dierig AG in May 1994 (Vorstand). In May 1997 Christian Dierig became the CEO (Vorstandssprecher) of Dierig Holding AG. The biggest challenge in these years was the complete restructuring of the textile business away from production in Germany opening new converting operations and starting a real estate operation to reuse the available production sites. As of today Dierig produces home furnishings, technical fabrics and grey goods and is a very active player in the development of real estate all over Germany.
Christian Dierig is a president of the Verband der Textil- und Bekleidungsindustrie in Munich and the vice president of the Chamber of commerce of Schwaben. He is a member of several supervisory boards and a strong supporter of the Alphazirkel.
